CARDIFF - Mon August 27th 2012

On 19th August the tanker Bro Deliverer arrived from Milford Haven with oil products for the Chevron Terminal, she returned to MH on 20th.
On 23rd Jan V arrived in ballast from Newport, she loaded steel products and sailed for Greenore on 24th.
On 25th, the container ship Sara Borchard arrived from Leixoes, she sailed the same day bound for Liverpool.
There were two arrivals on 26th, the chemical tanker Stolt Razorbill came in from Rotterdam and discharged at the No 1 Oil Terminal, sailed to sea for orders on 27th.  Carisbrooke Shipping Ltd  Balu C  arrived from Honfleur and is loading in the Queen Alexandra dock - I missed her arrival and will miss her departure, so no photo.  UPDATE:  Balu C came  back to Cardiff on 16 September 2015, photo and details now added.

A frequent visitor to the Bristol Channel  - regularly taking cement to Sharpness.  On this occassion, having discharged there, she sailed to Cardiff and loaded bulk aggregates(???) at Ryans Wharf.  Photographed on 19th, having departed Cardiff and dropped off the pilot at Barry, she is bound for Bilbao.

CARDIFF - Fri Aug 17th 2012

The coastal excursion ship Balmoral arrived back on the Bristol Channel today, calling at Penarth on her way to and from Ilfracombe.

CARDIFF - Sat Aug 11th 2012

There were 3 arrivals on 8th: Sisu Castor from Avonmouth to load (steel?) for Algeria, she sailed on 9th, arrival and departure were at night, so no photograph.  SCL Elise from Ponta Delgada she's loading steel for Gemlik at Ryans Wharf. Pamir from Spain, she discharged at the Seawood Shed and sailed for Rotterdam on 11th.
On the 9th the container ship Charlotte Borchard came in from Leixoes, she sailed to Liverpool on 10th.
On 10th the tanker Bro Genius was back from Milford Haven again with oil products for the Chevron Terminal, she returned to MH on 11th.

Seen passing Penarth Pier on the approach to Cardiff (being assisted by the tug Nobleman).  She is arriving from Ghent, will berth at H Shed in the Roath Dock and load another cargo of steel for Ghent.  Expected to sail on 14th.

BARRY - Mon Aug 6th 2012

Since the last post for Barry there has been just the one arrival- the chemical tanker  Stolt Fulmar came in from Stanlow, she sailed on 6th for Antwerp.

Built as a replica of a Mersey Bay pilot schooner. Owned by The Princes Trust and used for sail training for up to 12 young people.  The first picture shows her alongside at Barry, the second shows her under sail passing Duart Castle (Isle of Mull) in May 2010

CARDIFF - Tues Aug 7th 2012

Regular visitor, container ship Rachel Borchard arrived from Leixoes on 2nd and sailed for Liverpool the next day.
Aasvik arrived on 3rd with a cargo of stone from Belfast, she sailed for Port Talbot on 4th.
The tanker Bro Designer arrived on 4th with oil products from Milford Haven, she returned there the next day.
On 4th, the chemical tanker Fen arrived from Rotterdam.  After discharging at the No 1 Oil Terminal she returned to Rotterdam - it was a night time arrival and departure, so no photograph.
Another tanker arrival on 6th - Bro Genius came in from Milford Haven with oil products for the Chevron Terminal - she returned to MH on 8th.  Also on 6th, the dredger UKD Orca came in from the Bristol Channel where she has been working on clearing the dock entrances at Newport and Bristol ports.  She will depart in a few days, after a crew changeover.

CARDIFF - Weds Aug 1st 2012

A number of arrivals since the last post - two on 27th:  container ship Sara Borchard from Leixoes, she sailed to Dublin the same day. And sand dredger City Of Cardiff arrived from Avonmouth, she discharged and sailed on the same tide.
On 28th the tanker Bro Designer, unusually, arrived from Avonmouth with a part cargo of oil products for the Chevron Terminal - she sailed the same day, bound for Milford Haven.
On 30th the smaller tanker Bro Gemini arrived from Milford Haven she discharged at the Chevron Terminal and returned to Milford Haven the next day - I missed this one, so no photo - UPDATE photo/details now added below.

Photographed arriving from Cork.  Her arrival was delayed while she waited for the tug Nobleman to come out of Barry.  It's unusual for a ship of this size to need the assistance of a tug, so wonder if she had a problem with her bow thruster.  She will berth in the Queen Alexandra Dock and load steel (?) for Algeria.
