Monday 18th saw the arrival of Aasvik from Belfast with another cargo of stone aggregate.  She sailed for Port Talbot on 19th.  The dredger  UKD Bluefin  arrived from sea.

One of Union Transports 4 recent new builds.  Arrived this morning from Halmstad and is seen discharging at Ryans Wharf.  She sailed for Newport on 20th.

CARDIFF - Sun June 17th 2012

On 15th there were 2 arrivals - Kossau came in from Londonderry with a cargo of scrap metals for Ryans Wharf.  She sailed on 18th, bound for Newport where she will be loading  scrap metal!.  Container ship Charlotte Borchard came in on her regular service from Leixoes - she sailed for Liverpool on 16th.
The port of Cardiff looked a hive of activity on the 15th, with the 2 ships above, plus 2 sand dredgers Arco Dart and Welsh Piper, the bulker Resko  2 coasters Aquarius and Zeeland and 2 tugs.
Today the tanker Bro Distributor was back again from Milford Haven with another load of oil products for the Chevron Terminal.

Seen discharging at H Shed in the Roath Dock.  She had arrived from Eregli - it's difficult to say what the cargo is because it's wrapped in white plastic, but think it may be steel. She sailed on 20th bound for Ijmuiden.

CARDIFF - Tues June 12th 2012

On 11th the bunkering tanker Provider (ex Henty Provider) arrived from Liverpool with fuel for Resko, which is still discharging.  I missed the arrival of Provider and she sailed back to Liverpool on the next (night) tide - so no photograph. And arrived today Jan-V  from Liverpool, she is loading (steel products?) at No 1 berth in the Queen Alexandra Dock and is due to sail for Greenore on 14th.

Arrived from Rotterdam, she discharged at the No1 Oil berth in the Queen Alexandra Dock and sailed on 10th.  She had arrived and departed at night, luckily, she only sailed as far as Barry where she anchored waiting for orders.

Arrived from Londonderry this morning.  She part loaded and is seen in the evening about to depart for Thamesport.   I'm guessing that she loaded some containers - Barry does not have any specialised container handling equipment, the quay where she berthed has a lot of containers on it and with a destination of Thamesport (a container terminal).......??

We've had gales blowing up the Bristol Channel for 2 days.  We don't get huge waves this far up the channel but enough to make Laida roll her way around Lavernock Point, inbound from Warrenpoint.  She's berthed at the Seawood Shed.  According to the VTS she's loading, but she already looks well down to her marks.  She sailed on 12th bound for Rotterdam.

Tanker Bro Deliverer arrived on 4th from Milford Haven, with a cargo of oil products for the Chevron Terminal, she returned there the same day.

One of Polsteams (Polish Steamship Company) handysize bulk carriers.  Arrived from Baltimore with a cargo of steel.  Discharging on Ryans Wharf in the Roath Dock.  She finished unloading on 9th and moved to a vacant berth in the Queen Alexandra Dock, she stayed there until 16th when she sailed for Klaipeda.

On May 29th the Maltese flagged oil/chemical tanker Nosi arrived from Santander.  She sailed for Ellesmere Port the same day - I missed her arrival and departure, so no picture.  On 31st the container ship Sara Borchard arrived from Leixoes and sailed on the next day bound for Liverpool.

It has been fairly quiet for the last three weeks, just 3 chemical tanker arrivals - Eships Quest came in from Tjelbergodden on 7th and 19th sailing back there on 8th and 21st.  Stolt Guillemot came in from Rotterdam on 18th and sailed the same day bound for Antwerp.

Monday 21st saw two arrivals - container ship Charlotte Borchard from Liverpool and tanker Bro Designer from Milford Haven with oil products for the Chevron Terminal - both sailed on 22nd  when the coaster Selene Prahm arrived from Brake she discharged at Bells Wharf and sailed for Teignmouth on 24th.  I missed her  arrival and departure, so no picture.  UPDATE pictures and details now added below.

There were two arrivals on 19th - the Tanker Bro Gothia from Milford Haven with oil products, discharged at the No 1 Oil berth.  Aasvik arrived from Belfast with a cargo of stone and discharged at the pontoon berth, she sailed for Port Talbot on 20th.  City of Cardiff was back again on the 20th she discharged her load of sand at Hansons Wharf and sailed the same day, bound for Swansea.

Still very quiet, just two arrivals since the last post until today:
On 11th the Royal Netherlands Navy submarine Zeeleeuw arrived from sea, she berthed in the Queen Alexandra Dock so guess it's not an official visit.
On the 13th the tanker Bro Distributor arrived from Milford Haven with oil products.
Today, the two ships above sailed and there were two arrivals - the Antiguan flagged coaster See-Stern arrived from Brake (Germany) and..................

There are few shipping movements at the present time.  On May 2nd Union Diamond arrived from Halmstad with a cargo of timber products.  She part unloaded, then sailed on 3rd for Newport to complete discharge.
Container ship Sara Borchard arrived from Leixoes on 3rd and sailed on 4th bound for Liverpool.

A few chemical tanker arrivals since the last post for Barry -
Eships Quest arrived from Tjelbergodden on April 10th and again on 21st on each occasion she returned to Norway on the following day.
Stolt Kittiwake was back again on April 19th, arriving from Gijon and again on May 1st arriving from Port Jerome both times she sailing the following day to Antwerp.

Terra Marique

A unique locally registered (Newport, Gwent) shallow draft Ro Ro/semi submersible heavy lift barge.  She's equipped with two caterpillar engines powering 4 pump jets for self propelled manoeuvring in harbours and rivers.  She had brought a heavy load on an Ale Heavy Lift road trailer, a tractor unit was hitched to the trailer and driven off the barge ready for local delivery.  She is seen here manoeuvring towards the locks in the No 1 dock prior to departing for Southampton.  The picture below shows her with wheelhouse lowered, tow attached to MTS Victory and ready for sea.

CARDIFF - Tues, May 1st 2012

On 29th the tanker Bro Deliverer brought oil products from Milford Haven, she returned there the same day.
On 30th regular visitor, container ship Judith Borchard arrived from Liverpool and sailed the following day for Leixoes.  Another delivery of oil products from Milford Haven came in on board Bro Garland, and as soon as she had sailed on May 1st, Bro Distributor came in with more oil products - she had a short lay over, sailing back to Milford on May 3rd.

The small feeder container ship Coronel arrived back again from Warrenpoint on 17th.  It now looks like she has replaced Soul Sound on this service.  Soul Sound was anchored off Warrenpoint for a few days 'waiting for orders' - she's now on her way to Ghent.
James Fishers tanker Mersey Fisher arrived today from Belfast, she is due to sail tomorrow bound for Plymouth.
