On the 8th the tanker Bro Designer arrived (unusually, from Avonmouth where she must have part discharged), she completed her discharge at the Chevron Terminal and sailed for Milford Haven on 9th.

CARDIFF - Weds Jul 11th 2012

3 Arrivals today - Fehn Mirage came in from Port La Nouvelle (France), she berthed on Ryans Wharf in the Roath Dock to discharge - I don't know what the cargo was.
The tanker Jutlandia Swan arrived from Foynes in the early hours, she discharged at the No 1 Oil Terminal in the Queen Alexandra dock.  Sailed for Fawlay (for orders) after dark the same day, so no photo.

BARRY - Fri July 6th 2012

Since the last post for Barry (almost a month ago) chemical tanker Eships Quest has called 3 times - on June 14th and 23rd and again on July 5th each time arriving from Tjellbergodden.  Chemical tanker Stolt Redshank has called twice, on June 23rd from Le Havre and July 3rd from Antwerp.

CARDIFF - Weds July 4th 2012

On 3rd the tanker Bro Distributor arrived from Milford Haven with oil products for the No 1 Oil Terminal in the Queen Alexandra Dock.  She stayed for a couple of days lay over, moving to the Seawood Shed wharf on 5th and sailing back to MH on 7th.

I missed her arrived from Briton Ferry.  She loaded wood pulp at the West End wharf in the Queen Alexandra Dock.  She is seen on 5th July, approaching the lock, about to depart for Norrkoping - she had been due to sail at 1800 hours, but that was put back to 2100 hours when the light was fading fast, so just this distant picture.

Since the last posting, it's gone a little quiet.  On 25th June the tanker Bro Deliverer brought oil products from Milford Haven for the Chevron Terminal - she returned to MH on 26th.
On 26th Aasvik arrived from Belfast with a cargo of stone (aggregate) which she self discharged onto the Pontoon Wharf - she sailed for Port Talbot on 27th.
On 28th the regular visitor, container ship Sara Borchard  arrived form Leixoes - she sailed to Liverpool on 29th.

Arrived from Diliskelesi and discharged at the Seawood Shed - I couldn't see what the cargo was.  She is seen sailing on 5th July bound for the local Usk Port.  For some reason the mast atop the accommodation had been lowered, and not put back up for the short sea passage.

On 21st the regular visitor - container ship Judith Borchard arrived from Leixoes, she sailed for Liverpool on 22nd - a day when there were 5 ships arriving....................

Also arrived from Ceuta.  Approaching the dock (off Penarth) at 18:30 she appeared to have some sort of mechanical failure (a lot of smoke from the funnel)  She drifted off Penarth for about 2 hours  awaiting the arrival of tug Roman from Newport, to assist with docking.  She berthed at the Seawood Shed and is due to sail for La Corunna on 24th.

FNS Chacal (A753)  FNS Jaguar (A750)  and  FNS Tigre (A754)  3 Leopard Class training ships of the French Navy on a visit to Cardiff.  Berthed on Britannia Quay in the Roath Basin.  Each ship has a crew of 15 plus 4 instructors plus 18 students.  They sailed to sea on 24th June.

Monday 18th saw the arrival of Aasvik from Belfast with another cargo of stone aggregate.  She sailed for Port Talbot on 19th.  The dredger  UKD Bluefin  arrived from sea.

One of Union Transports 4 recent new builds.  Arrived this morning from Halmstad and is seen discharging at Ryans Wharf.  She sailed for Newport on 20th.

CARDIFF - Sun June 17th 2012

On 15th there were 2 arrivals - Kossau came in from Londonderry with a cargo of scrap metals for Ryans Wharf.  She sailed on 18th, bound for Newport where she will be loading  scrap metal!.  Container ship Charlotte Borchard came in on her regular service from Leixoes - she sailed for Liverpool on 16th.
The port of Cardiff looked a hive of activity on the 15th, with the 2 ships above, plus 2 sand dredgers Arco Dart and Welsh Piper, the bulker Resko  2 coasters Aquarius and Zeeland and 2 tugs.
Today the tanker Bro Distributor was back again from Milford Haven with another load of oil products for the Chevron Terminal.

On 11th the bunkering tanker Provider (ex Henty Provider) arrived from Liverpool with fuel for Resko, which is still discharging.  I missed the arrival of Provider and she sailed back to Liverpool on the next (night) tide - so no photograph. And arrived today Jan-V  from Liverpool, she is loading (steel products?) at No 1 berth in the Queen Alexandra Dock and is due to sail for Greenore on 14th.

Arrived from Londonderry this morning.  She part loaded and is seen in the evening about to depart for Thamesport.   I'm guessing that she loaded some containers - Barry does not have any specialised container handling equipment, the quay where she berthed has a lot of containers on it and with a destination of Thamesport (a container terminal).......??

We've had gales blowing up the Bristol Channel for 2 days.  We don't get huge waves this far up the channel but enough to make Laida roll her way around Lavernock Point, inbound from Warrenpoint.  She's berthed at the Seawood Shed.  According to the VTS she's loading, but she already looks well down to her marks.  She sailed on 12th bound for Rotterdam.

One of Polsteams (Polish Steamship Company) handysize bulk carriers.  Arrived from Baltimore with a cargo of steel.  Discharging on Ryans Wharf in the Roath Dock.  She finished unloading on 9th and moved to a vacant berth in the Queen Alexandra Dock, she stayed there until 16th when she sailed for Klaipeda.

On May 29th the Maltese flagged oil/chemical tanker Nosi arrived from Santander.  She sailed for Ellesmere Port the same day - I missed her arrival and departure, so no picture.  On 31st the container ship Sara Borchard arrived from Leixoes and sailed on the next day bound for Liverpool.

It has been fairly quiet for the last three weeks, just 3 chemical tanker arrivals - Eships Quest came in from Tjelbergodden on 7th and 19th sailing back there on 8th and 21st.  Stolt Guillemot came in from Rotterdam on 18th and sailed the same day bound for Antwerp.

There were two arrivals on 19th - the Tanker Bro Gothia from Milford Haven with oil products, discharged at the No 1 Oil berth.  Aasvik arrived from Belfast with a cargo of stone and discharged at the pontoon berth, she sailed for Port Talbot on 20th.  City of Cardiff was back again on the 20th she discharged her load of sand at Hansons Wharf and sailed the same day, bound for Swansea.
