CARDIFF - Sun 26th June 2011

Just one new visitor since the last post  RMS Twisteden arrived from Bremen on 21st berthed in the Queen Alexandra Dock, so didn't get a picture.  She later sailed for Belfast.  UPDATE - she came back to Cardiff on 25 April 2012 - see the post for that date for a (distant!) photo.

Photographed as she departed Cardiff (on 27th) bound for Waterford is the French Naval Sail Training Ketch FS Mutin (A652)  She had arrived on 23rd from Dartmouth and had been berthed on Brittania Quay in the Roath Basin.

HC Maria Jeanne (ex- SCL Marie Jeanne) had arrived from Ijmuiden with a cargo of steel products, discharging here on Ryans Wharf. She sailed on 28th TSFO

Seen arriving today from Lyness (Shetland) was Hajo - I don't know what cargo she would have brought from Shetland.

Seen off Penarth she was arriving from Kings Lynn with a cargo of scrap metal to be discharged on Ryans Wharf in the Roath Dock.  She sailed on 21st to sea for orders.

Waverley

Paddle steamer Waverley alongside Penarth pier on her final day on the Bristol Channel.  She sailed for Greenock soon after the photo was taken.  Another photo below, arriving from Ilfracombe on June 18th 2013.

Yet another of Peter Dohles smart ships to visit Cardiff.  She too had arrived on 17th with a cargo of steel products from Ijmuiden.  Pictured off Penarth, she also went to anchor off Minehead to await orders. On 23rd she proceeded to Tilbury.

CARDIFF - Thurs 16th June 2011

A couple or arrivals today:- Aasvik came in from Belfast with a cargo of stone aggregate, she sailed for Port Talbot on 17th, and container ship Charlotte Borchard arrived from Leixoes and also sailed on 17th bound for Liverpool.

Arrived today from Liverpool.  Loading scrap metal on the EMR berth in the Roath Dock.  Due to sail on 17th bound for Aviles.

2 University research ships in dock today, they appear to have been on an official visit - there was a reception taking place on the after deck of Prince Madog - probably something to do with University of Wales.

Owned and operated by VT Ocean Services (a joint venture between University of Wales Bangor and VT Group Oceanography) in the Beaumaris registered Prince Madog.  Seen here berthed on Britannia Quay in the Roath Basin.

Another one of Peter Dohle Schiffahrts-KG ships - Celina arrived from Ijmuiden with a cargo of steel products.  Seen here discharging on Ryans Wharf.  She sailed on the 17th anchoring off Minehead, on 21st she proceeded to Portland.

CARDIFF - Mon 13th June 2011

I've been away for about ten days and I know that I missed the following:- 2 of Gerhard Wessels coasters - Faust, (arrived on 30th from Tarrangona, Spain - UPDATE - picture now added below) and Gorky (arrived on 6th June from Newport with a part cargo of steel).  On 4th June 2 more coasters - Nural Stevns (came in from Spain) and Ceg Cosmos (arrived from Norway) - UPDATE - picture added HERE.  The Tyne based tug Flying Spindrift made a visit and sailed for Lowestoft on 10th June.
