CARDIFF - Fri January 25th 2013

On 19th the tanker Bro Deliverer  arrived with oil products from Milford Haven, she discharged at the Valero Terminal and returned to MH on 20th.
There were two arrivals on 20th Aasli arrived from Belfast with a cargo of stone for Hansons Pontoon Wharf - she sailed for Port Talbot on 21st.  RMS Rotterdam arrived from Bremen, she discharged at Bells Wharf and sailed on 23rd - I missed the arrival and departure, so no picture.  UPDATE:  photo now added, below -
On 21st the multicat UKD Sealion arrived from Barry.  She sailed on 24th bound for Swansea.
On 23rd the dredger Sospan Dau arrived off Penarth to start the annual dredging of the entrance to Cardiff Bay.

CARDIFF - Fri January 18th 2013

On 16th the small local tug/workboat New Ross 1 moved from her berth on the river Ely and locked into Cardiff.  For a few hours she carried some work in the Roath Dock before locking out and returning to her usual berth.  I also noticed that another tug/workboat Tioga B has arrived at Penarth, probably to assist with the annual dredging of the entrance to Cardiff Bay.

Arrived from Ijmuiden with a cargo of steel that she unloaded at Ryans Wharf.  Photographed as she sailed on 22nd, proceeding towards Dover (for orders).

CARDIFF - Sat January 12th 2013

The tanker Bro Deliverer arrived from Milford Haven on 11th with oil products.  She part discharged at the Valero Terminal, then moved to the No 1 Oil Berth to complete discharge.  She returned to MH on 12th.

  Arrived from Ijmuiden with a cargo of steel.  Discharging on to Ryans Wharf in the Roath Dock.  She sailed on 15th to sea for orders, now proceeding to Husnes (Norway).

Arrived from Hamburg.  Lying alongside the EMR (scrap metals) berth.  I had assumed that she would be loading scrap metal, but looking at the picture, she is lying at the vacant west end of the berth.  And, on the quay are some serious looking heavy lifting cranes.  Whatever the cargo is (loading or unloading) she will sail on 8th bound for Antwerp.

Appearing out of the fog, Gerhard Wessels Kastor, arriving from Vilanova with a cargo of timber for the Seawood Shed in the Queen Alexandra Dock.  She is due to sail on 8th bound for Warrenpoint.  UPDATE:  Another photo below, taken 21 July 2020 on the Bristol Channel.

CARDIFF - Weds January 2nd 2013

Three arrivals today:  the tanker Bro Developer came in from Milford Haven.  Unusually, she part discharged at the No1 Oil Terminal then moved to the Valero Terminal to complete discharge,  She returned to MH on 4th.  Virage arrived in ballast from Ayr, she loaded (unknown cargo) at the No 1 Berth and sailed for Porto Vesme on 4th.  I've added a better of Virage to the original post for her.

CARDIFF - Sun December 30th 2012

The short daylight hours are reducing the photo opportunities, that, plus 'new' ships arriving and sailing under cover of darkness!
The 19th saw the arrival from nearby Uskport of the Dutch BEAUMAIDEN (no photo. UPDATE - photo now added below) she had brought a part cargo of steel (originally from Ijmuiden) discharged on Ryans Wharf.  She sailed for Boulogne (via Portland) on 20th.
On 21st the regular visitor, container ship Rachel Borchard arrived from Leixoes, and sailed for Dublin on 22nd,
The tanker Bro Distributor arrived from Milford Haven on 23rd with oil products for the Valero Terminal.  She returned to MH on 25th.
Two arrivals on 27th (missed both of them) EEMS SOLAR  came in 'light' from Teignmouth, loaded steel/wire products at No 1 Berth and sailed for Limerick on 28th.   James Fishers tanker CLYDE FISHER arrived from Rotterdam and discharged at the No 1 Oil Terminal.  She sailed on 29th bound for Whitegate.
Another  two arrivals on 28th - Bro Designer came in from Milford Haven with oil products for the Valero Terminal.  She sailed for Finnart on 29th.  ISARTAL (missed this one) arrived from Swansea and loaded steel/wire products at the No 1 Berth and sailed for Greenore on 31st.
On 29th another regular visitor, container ship Charlotte Borchard arrived from Leixoes, she sailed for Liverpool later the same day.

Santa Helena 1 arrived from Dakar via Las Palmas,  she berthed at the Seawood Shed and discharged granulated clay.  She is photographed on 4th January sailing for the local port of Uskport where she will load steel for Antwerp.
