CARDIFF - Fri March 22nd 2013

On 18th the tanker Bro Distributor arrived from Milford Haven with oil products for the Valero Terminal.  She returned to MH on 19th.
On 19th Aveiro arrived from Eregli and discharged at A shed.  She sailed for Greenore on 20th - missed this one, so no photograph.   UPDATE:  photo now added below -
On 21st Union Diamond arrived with scrap metal from Ipswich, she discharged on Ryans wharf and sailed for Caen on 22nd.
There were two arrivals on 22nd - Aasvik came in from Belfast with another cargo of stone aggregate.  She discharged on the Pontoon wharf and sailed for Port Talbot on 23rd.

The Thun Group appear to have changed the prefix on all their 'G' class tankers from  Bro to Thun.  Pictured arriving at Cardiff from Rotterdam is the recently renamed Thun Gazelle (Ex  Bro Gazelle).  She discharged at the No 1 Oil Terminal and sailed for Milford Haven on 17th.

The sand dredger City Of Cardiff returned on 14th, from Avonmouth.  She sailed for the Nash Bank on the 15th.

Two arrivals on 2nd - the tanker Bro Deliverer from Milford Haven, with oil products for the Valero Terminal. She returned to MH on 3rd.  Bouga arrived with timber from Vilanova, she part discharged at the Seawood shed and sailed for Warrenpoint on 5th.
On 6th Flinterrachel arrived 'light' from Dublin, she loaded steel/wire products at the No 1 Berth and sailed for Ceuta on 8th. No photo - missed the arrival and departure and the visibility has been so poor, I couldn't even get a 'long shot'   UPDATE: photo and details now added below......
There were two arrival on the 8th - occasional visitor, the sand dredger City Of Cardiff came in from the Bristol Channel with a load of sand, she discharged at Hansons Wharf and sailed later the same day.  The tanker Bro Developer came in from Milford Haven with oil products for the Valero Terminal. She returned to MH on 9th.

It has been 3 months since the last 'new' arrival at Barry, in that time there have been about 6 arrivals each month - here is a list of them:

Stolt Egret  on 11th December (from/to Rotterdam) and 2nd January (from Rouen to Antwerp)
Stolt Dipper on 14th December (from Cork to Antwerp) and 27th February (from Dublin to Antwerp)
Stolt Pelican on 27th December (from Stanlow to Antwerp)
Stolt Kite on 12th January (from Londonderry to Antwerp) and 7th February (from Rochefort to Rotterdam)
Stolt Kestrel on 24th January (from La Rochelle to Antwerp)
Stolt Razorbill on  12th February (from Stanlow to Antwerp)
Stolt Shearwater on 21st February  (from Stanlow to Antwerp)
On 13th January the dredger UKD Orca arrived from Port Talbot to carry out dredging of the dock entrance. She was joined on 17th January by UKD Sealion which came in from Newport.  Both sailed on 21st January - Orca to Swansea, Sealion to Cardiff.

On the 4th, the tug MTS Vengeance arrived from Falmouth, she didn't stay for long, returning to Brixham, so I didn't manage to get a photograph.  Her purpose for coming to Barry was towing the jackup crane barge .................

Fugro Seacores Deep Diver 1 - a jack-up crane barge equipped with a 180T Kobelco CKE 1800 pedestal crane.  Pictured in the No 3 Basin. I don't know what work she is engaged in, there was no activity on the 2 occasions I went to have a look.  UPDATE, another picture below shows her departing for Blue Anchor Bay where she carried out some work.

There were two arrivals on 20th - Maimiti came in from Mardas (Turkey), she discharged her cargo at the Seawood shed and sailed for Rotterdam on 22nd.  Peter Dohles Celina was another arrival from Ijmuiden with steel for Ryans Wharf.  She sailed on 23rd bound for Blaye (near Bordeaux).
On 21st - the tanker Bro Deliverer arrived from Milford Haven with oil products for the Valero Terminal.  She returned to MH later the same day.
On 22nd there were two arrivals - regular visitor, container ship Charlotte Borchard from Leixoes.  She sailed for Liverpool on 23rd.

Kapitan Kozhevnikov arrived from Vilanova with a cargo of timber for the Seawood Shed, she sailed for Warrenpoint on 19th - I missed the arrival and departure, so no picture.

One of a number of ships currently arriving from Ijmuiden with steel for the Ryans Wharf.  In the photo, she had just been 'walked' down the quay to H Shed to allow another ship onto Ryans Wharf.  She sailed a couple of hours later on 14th bound for Tau (Norway).

There were 3 arrivals on 8th - Union Emerald from Halstad she (part?) discharge at H Shed and sailed for Chatham on 9th. Container ship Charlotte Borchard from Leixoes, she sailed for Liverpool later the same day. And the tanker Bro Galaxy with oil products from Milford Haven, she returned there on 9th.
Two arrivals on 9th - Frisian Ocean was back again from Ijmuiden with another cargo of steel for Ryans Wharf.  She sailed on 10th, bound for Murmansk.  Also arriving from Ijmuiden with another cargo of steel for Ryans Wharf was Ardita .  She had to  berth on the Pontoon Wharf until Frisian Ocean had completed her discharge.  She sailed on 13th, bound for Immingham.
On 10th Sarma 1 arrived from Riga with packaged timber for the H Shed.  She sailed on 13th and headed for the shelter of Blue Anchor Bay to await orders.  She left the anchorage on 18th, bound for La Coruna.

On the 4th, the dredger UKD Orca arrived from Portbury.  She stayed in dock until the 6th, then went out to carry out dredging of the main entrance channel to Cardiff docks.  She left the area on 8th, sailing for Garston.

CARDIFF - Fri February 1st 2013

26th saw the arrival of the tanker Bro Developer from Milford Haven, with oil products for the Valero Terminal.  She returned to Milford the next day.
On  the 28th, the container ship Charlotte Borchard arrived from Dublin, she sailed for Leixoes later the same day.
On 29th Peter Dohles Centa arrived from Ijmuiden with a cargo of steel for Ryans Wharf, she sailed for Newport on 31st.
Two arrivals on 30th, Frisian Ocean returned from Ijmuiden with another cargo of steel for the H Shed, she is due to sail on 2nd.  The dredger Sospan Dau docked for a short break from her dredging duties, sailing on the next tide to carry on her work.  On the 1st Feb she departed the area, bound for Newhaven.
On 31st, the container ship Joanna Borchard arrived from Leixoes.  She sailed for Liverpool on 1st.
The 1st Feb. saw two arrivals - the tanker Bro Deliverer came in from Milford Haven with oil products for the Valero Terminal.

CARDIFF - Fri January 18th 2013

On 16th the small local tug/workboat New Ross 1 moved from her berth on the river Ely and locked into Cardiff.  For a few hours she carried some work in the Roath Dock before locking out and returning to her usual berth.  I also noticed that another tug/workboat Tioga B has arrived at Penarth, probably to assist with the annual dredging of the entrance to Cardiff Bay.

Arrived from Hamburg.  Lying alongside the EMR (scrap metals) berth.  I had assumed that she would be loading scrap metal, but looking at the picture, she is lying at the vacant west end of the berth.  And, on the quay are some serious looking heavy lifting cranes.  Whatever the cargo is (loading or unloading) she will sail on 8th bound for Antwerp.

The short daylight hours are reducing the photo opportunities, that, plus 'new' ships arriving and sailing under cover of darkness!
The 19th saw the arrival from nearby Uskport of the Dutch BEAUMAIDEN (no photo. UPDATE - photo now added below) she had brought a part cargo of steel (originally from Ijmuiden) discharged on Ryans Wharf.  She sailed for Boulogne (via Portland) on 20th.
On 21st the regular visitor, container ship Rachel Borchard arrived from Leixoes, and sailed for Dublin on 22nd,
The tanker Bro Distributor arrived from Milford Haven on 23rd with oil products for the Valero Terminal.  She returned to MH on 25th.
Two arrivals on 27th (missed both of them) EEMS SOLAR  came in 'light' from Teignmouth, loaded steel/wire products at No 1 Berth and sailed for Limerick on 28th.   James Fishers tanker CLYDE FISHER arrived from Rotterdam and discharged at the No 1 Oil Terminal.  She sailed on 29th bound for Whitegate.
Another  two arrivals on 28th - Bro Designer came in from Milford Haven with oil products for the Valero Terminal.  She sailed for Finnart on 29th.  ISARTAL (missed this one) UPDATE - picture (not mine) added below[Jan 2026] arrived from Swansea and loaded steel/wire products at the No 1 Berth and sailed for Greenore on 31st.
On 29th another regular visitor, container ship Charlotte Borchard arrived from Leixoes, she sailed for Liverpool later the same day.
